I drove about an hour from me to the dried lake bed of Winnemucca Lake to try my first real attempt at astrophotography using stacking. Stacking is taking many pictures of the same area instead of one long exposure, and then putting them into software which will bring out the faint details.
It was a learning experience for sure, and a whole new work flow with a lot more post production than I am used to. It also did not help that I went during a full moon, which meant I was fighting against a ton of light. I look forward to going back when the night sky is darker.
